Application Contents


To submit an application, you must provide 1) an entry form, 2) a photo, and 3) a personal profile, along with the specific submission requirements of each scholarship.

Photo
Please provide a 300 ppi (pixels per inch) photo, size 4 x 6 inches in .jpg format. For the required photo, please provide a head shot with a plain background and look directly at the camera. LAF retains the right to publish photos submitted in winning entries on the LAF web site and for promotion of the scholarship program.

Personal Profile Content (two page maximum)
(Team submissions require a personal profile of each team member.)

Education
  • Name of accredited university currently attending/planning to attend
  • Academic status, cumulative units/credits and cumulative GPA
  • Anticipated graduation date
  • Date of birth
Extracurricular Activities
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Community involvement
  • Professional experience

Financial Information
(Required for ASLA Council of Fellows, Paul, Peridian, and CLASS Fund only)

  • Marital status, number of dependents, and relationship to dependents
  • Annual salary and spouse's annual salary (if applicable)
  • Anticipated school related expenses
  • How education has been financed to date
  • Parental financial assistance (if parents provide assistance, please provide information below)
    • Parents' annual income
    • Parents' number of dependents
    • Parents' number of dependents in post-secondary school
  • Social security education benefits
  • Additional awards
  • Other assistance
  • Estimate of unmet financial need

Submission Instructions


Submit all application material (with the exception of reference letters) as a single document to scholarships@lafoundation.org. Faxed and mailed applications will not be accepted.

Each document must be formatted as follows:

  • Create one-inch minimum margins
  • Include page number and surname/document name/award name on all pages of all documents prepared by applicant, for example:
    • Page 1 of 3
    • Smith/Proposal/Dangermond Fellowship

Request a delivery receipt for the email (under "Options," go to "Voting and Tracking" when composing the email) and save a copy in case of email transmittal problems.

Letters of Recommendation
(Required for all scholarships and fellowships except the Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarship)

  • Letters of recommendation should be written on electronic letterhead and include an electronic signature from the recommender
  • Recommendations must be sent by email as an attachment directly from the recommender to scholarships@lafoundation.org
  • Please instruct recommenders to request a delivery receipt for the email (under "Options" when composing the email) and/or save a copy in case of email transmittal problems

Applications will be disqualified if they do not adhere to submission guidelines and deadlines. Please do not send additional materials; they will not be reviewed.
