Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship Lisa Uddin Doctoral Candidate in Visual and Cultural Studies University of Rochester Breeding Grounds: American Zoos and the Public Display of Endangered Species involves the investigation of zoological gardens of the 1960's and 1970's, a period when the "naked-cage" model of animal display began to give way to expansive, naturalistic and multi-species habitats.
Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship Carrie Ann Fathham Masters in Landscape Architecture University of Minnesota, Minneapolis A History of the Stark Brothers' Orchard on North Manitou Island will outline the history of a historic orchard in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, Michigan. This study will provide a stepping stone for future management of the orchard, in addition to setting a standard for the management of other, similar cultural landscapes.
