The following scholarships are available for the 2023-24 academic year. The application deadline is February 1, 2024.

Eligible candidates are undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. Additional requirements vary by scholarship — for a summary, please see our Scholarships Eligibility Table.

Each scholarship has a webpage, which details its purpose, criteria, and application requirements. Students are strongly encouraged to prepare application materials specific to the award being sought. Winners are chosen through a competitive process by leading academics and practitioners in landscape architecture.

 

Scholarships for Master’s Students

These scholarships are available only to students pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture degree.

LAF Honor Scholarship in Memory of Joe Lalli, FASLA - $5,000-$20,000

LAF Honor Scholarship for Inclusive Community Design - $5,000-$10,000

Kenneth R. Brooks MLA Research Scholarship - $5,000

Scholarships for Undergraduates

These scholarships are available to undergraduate students only.

ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarships - $5,000-$10,000 + ASLA conference

LandDesign Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Scholarships - $5,000 + mentoring

Landscape Forms Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarships - $5,000

Landscape Forms Scholarship in Memory of Peter Schaudt, FASLA - $5,000

Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water™ Scholarship - $5,000

 

Scholarships for Grad or Undergrad Students

These awards are open to both graduate and undergraduate students. 

Daniel Zwier/Permaloc Innovation Scholarship - $5,000

EDSA Diversity Scholarships - $5,000

Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship - $5,000

 

LOCATION-SPECIFIC Scholarships

These scholarships are limited to students who are from or studying in specific schools or regions.

ASLA Florida Chapter Career Discovery Scholarship - $5,000

ASLA-NY Equitable Public Urban Space Scholarship - $5,000

Hawaii Chapter ASLA/David T. Woolsey Scholarship - $3,000

 

PROJECT SUPPORT

This award provides funding to support a proposed research project.

Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design - $4,000

LAF is grateful to the many individuals and organizations that provide financial support towards fulfilling our mission to support the preservation, improvement, and enhancement of the environment.

Much of what LAF is able to accomplish would not be possible without the thought leadership and financial investment of our major supporters, including ASLA, which provides over $125,000 of in-kind support annually.
